Sydney, Australia  — Sydney Technology Solutions (STS) continually invests in their company’s wealth of knowledge by attending global events like the recent “Dell Partner Technology Summit 2013—Optimising the Enterprise” in Queenstown, New Zealand.  Events like this not only bring knowledge to STS, but value to their clients in and around Sydney.

The information obtained from this event proved to STS that Dell’s solutions portfolio provides a complete end-to-end solution for businesses today.

The solutions STS was most impressed with included:

PowerEdge VRTXhttps://www.dell.com/au/business/p/poweredge-vrtx/pd  This is a cost-effective, all-in-one (servers, storage, networking) solution that allows IT providers to build a Microsoft cluster in one box. Currently it only has 1 Perc controller, but a 2nd one is going to be included in the solution by the end of the year.

OpenManage Essentials —https://marketing.dell.com/ome-software  This is free software that allows IT providers to monitor all Dell equipment and proactively create ProSupport cases for any hardware issues detected. It can even run\upload the DSET reports.

OpenManage Power Centerhttps://www.dell.com/au/business/p/dell-openmanage-power-center/pd   This software allows you to measure and manage your power usage. You can create usage policies that throttle back power consumption during low-load hours.

DVS Simplified Appliance—https://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/555/flexible-computing/dvs-simplified  This Is an all-in-one Citrix VDI solution aimed for mid-market customers. It’s very easy to setup and manage.

PowerConnect W-Serieshttps://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/global/products/landing/en/powerconnect-w?c=us&l=en  Dell and Aruba Networks announced a mutual partnership and multi-year agreement that will deliver enterprise wireless solutions.

W-Series ClearPass Access Management Systemhttps://www.dell.com/us/business/p/powerconnect-w-clearpass/pd  This is a solution for managing wireless access for guests and employees with either dedicated hardware or a VMware virtual appliance.  It’s ideal for BYOD (bring your own device) provisioning and onboarding.

Dell’s Microserver—(coming soon) Dell has a similar solution to the HP Microserver that is used for Asigra cloud backup solutions.

The Networking W-Series ClearPass—A solution for managing wireless access for guests and employees, easily and securely with either dedicated hardware or VMware virtual appliance software

Microsoft was a sponsor for the event, and their guest speaker demonstrated some of the new features coming out in Windows 8.1https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dn140266.aspx

One that was most impressive was the Workplace Join. You don’t have to connect a computer to the domain to manage access to corporate applications. This is going to be useful for BYOD scenarios.

STS was also impressed with Dell Solutions Centre for technical solution briefings, demonstrations, design sessions, and deployments through proof-of-concept engagements, as well as other services that Dell provides to STS as a Dell Partner to help them deliver the optimal outcomes for their clients.
