Microsoft Teams Recordings

Microsoft Teams has been a great addition to Microsoft 365 and allows for the easy creation of groups to collaborate on projects. There is one key setting that is not obvious when you first start using Teams – namely, who can download and view your team’s meeting recordings, and where are they stored?

How to Record a Meeting in Microsoft Teams

If you’re using Microsoft Teams for your business, you’ll want to know how to record and save meetings. This is a great way to keep track of important conversations and decisions that are made during your meetings. You can also share these recordings with other team members who were unable to attend the meeting.

To record a meeting in Microsoft Teams, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Start a meeting in Microsoft Teams.
  2. Click the “More” menu and select “Record Meeting.”
  3. The recording will start automatically and will be saved to your computer.

Recording a meeting in Microsoft Teams is an essential way to document what’s going on. You can download the recordings, which are handy for downloading and listening to later. Sometimes the recording misses something, which is when you can go back and listen to it again. Microsoft made changes to the storage for Teams meetings. Your Teams meetings recordings will be saved on the OneDrive and SharePoint platforms, rather than Microsoft Stream.

Moving forward,  all Microsoft Teams recordings should be easier to view, manage, and download. Additionally, if you have team members who could not attend the meeting, you can share the recording with them, so they’re in the loop. You may also want to ensure the recording is only accessed by those you select.

How to Download a Microsoft Teams Recording

You can download a recording of your Microsoft Teams meeting using one of two options. If you’re using the desktop app, find your recording by selecting Files in the left-hand menu and choosing your preferred Cloud storage option on the right, such as OneDrive or SharePoint. In the Recordings folder on the far right, hover over the recording and click the More Actions button. Click Download to download your file.

For Teams meeting recordings stored in OneDrive:

  • Meeting attendees can view the recordings by clicking on the chat history of the meeting in Teams.
  • The person who scheduled the meeting can edit the video recording and give access to external invites.
  • External invites do not have access to the recording. They can make a request to the meeting scheduler, who can then share the recording on OneDrive or SharePoint,

For Teams meeting recordings stored in SharePoint:

  • Meeting attendees can view the recording by clicking on the chat history of the meeting in Teams.
  • Teams recordings can be accessed from the Recordings/View Only folder in the channel.
  • The person who clicked on Start recording has edit rights to the recording
  • Other meeting attendees are allowed to view the recording, but not download or share it.

Microsoft Teams provides a number of features to help users get the most out of their meetings. Microsoft Teams helps teams communicate more efficiently, but it only takes a couple of settings to ensure that you don’t automatically share everything. To ensure that everyone is on the same page, you need to make sure that your team has everything it needs to collaborate efficiently.

You must also ensure your employees understand the importance of protecting their content from unauthorised access. Just like every other chat application on the market, your Microsoft Teams experience can be improved with a few tweaks.
