Ransomware, hardware failure, accidental deletion or a flooded server room: when your systems go down, every hour costs money. Disaster recovery from Sydney Technology Solutions means your data is backed up securely, recovery is planned and tested, and we can get you running again quickly.

What our disaster recovery includes
Secure, monitored backups
Servers, computers and Microsoft 365 data (email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams) backed up automatically, with backup monitoring so failures are picked up and fixed.
Stored in Australia
Backups are kept in Australian data centres, so your data stays onshore.
Protected from ransomware
Immutable or offline protection where appropriate, so attackers can’t delete or encrypt your backups.
Fast server recovery
If a server fails, we can bring it back quickly, including running it as a standby virtual machine while hardware is repaired or replaced.
File and email restores
Recover a single file, folder, mailbox or Teams and SharePoint content without restoring everything.
Tested recovery
Regular recovery testing proves your backups actually work, before you need them.
Recovery targets that suit your business
Not every system needs the same protection. We agree recovery targets with you for your key systems:
- Recovery time objective (RTO): how quickly each system needs to be back up and running.
- Recovery point objective (RPO): how much data, measured in time, you can afford to lose.
Then we design backups and recovery to meet them, without paying for more than you need.
A plan you can follow under pressure
We document a step-by-step disaster recovery runbook for your business: what gets recovered, in what order, by whom and how. When something goes wrong, there’s no guesswork, just a plan we’ve already tested.
How we set it up
1. Review
We look at your systems, data and current backups, and identify what matters most.
2. Agree targets
We set recovery time and recovery point objectives for your key systems.
3. Implement
We put secure, monitored backups and recovery tools in place.
4. Document
We write your disaster recovery runbook.
5. Test
We test recoveries regularly and adjust the plan as your business changes.
Part of a wider plan
Disaster recovery gets your systems and data back. Business continuity keeps your business operating while that happens. If you’re dealing with an attack right now, see our cyber incident response page.
Why choose STS for disaster recovery
We’ve helped Sydney businesses recover from failed servers, deleted data and cyber attacks since 1999. Disaster recovery only works if it’s tested, so we test it. Our approach follows the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s advice on backups and ransomware, and disaster recovery planning is kept in step with your business as it changes.

Frequently asked questions
Isn’t Microsoft 365 already backed up?
Microsoft keeps its service running, but it doesn’t provide a full backup of your data that you control. Deleted or encrypted email and files may not be recoverable after retention periods. A separate Microsoft 365 backup closes that gap.
Where is our data stored?
Backups are stored in Australian data centres.
How often do you test recoveries?
Regularly. We test that backups can actually be restored, and we’ll agree a testing schedule that suits your systems.
How quickly can you recover a server?
It depends on the system and the recovery targets we’ve agreed, but standby recovery means a failed server can often be running again well before replacement hardware arrives.
How much does it cost?
It depends on how much data you have and your recovery targets. After a review, we’ll give you clear pricing.
