People who use Facebook a lot, whether for personal or professional purposes and, may enjoy the new Timeline feature. We’ve all been hearing about it for a while now, and according to Angela Moscaritolo in her article for PCMag.com, Timeline will become a fait accompli on Mar. 30, 2012.

One nice thing about Timeline, especially for businesses, is that pictures are much larger than on the current Profile or Wall. If you’re curious about it, you have the option to get Timeline now or wait until Mar. 30 when, whether you want it or not, Timeline will replace your profile and Wall.

If you’re worried about privacy, then you’ll love the fact that Timeline allows you to control who can see what immediately. By clicking on the cog in the upper right corner of photos, you can set it up so that only your friends can view them. Written content such as the results of a quiz you’ve taken or video game you’ve played, can be removed from your Timeline by clicking on the pencil icon in the upper right corner.

In addition to your profile picture, you can add a cover photo, which is a huge picture that dominates the top of your page. Your profile picture appears as an inset on the lower left side.

For businesses, it seems, this new Timeline feature is a God send. Some businesses such as Starbucks, Ben & Jerry’s, and Nike have already started taking advantage of it. One of the new features available to them is the ability to communicate with consumers via private message.

Some people may not like Facebook’s new Timeline feature, but there seems to be a lot to love about it for businesses. Unfortunately, whether you like it or not, after March 30, you’re stuck with it … at least until Facebook comes up with something else.
