Introducing Microsoft Surface!

Tablet computers are the latest craze in the computer world. Apple’s iPad is the reigning champion, commanding 62% of the U.S.’s $75 billion tablet market. In an effort to usurp Apple’s position, Microsoft announced Jun. 18, 2012, that it will release two new tablet computers, the Windows RT and Windows 8 Pro, in fall 2012.

Those who have kept up with Microsoft’s latest activities will know that the company’s new Windows 8 operating system is designed for use with tablets. The new tablet, which Microsoft named Surface, should make the most of Windows 8.

The Windows RT, which will run an ARM-based version of Windows 8, weighs 676 g (about 1.5 pounds) and is 9.3 mm (about .37 inches) thick, has a 10.6” ClearType HD Display, 31.5 Watts/hour battery, microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 2×2 MIMO antennae for connection, Office Home & Student 2013 RT, Touch Cover, Type Cover, VaporMg Case & Stand and 32 GB or 64 GB memory.

The Windows 8 Pro is a little bigger and more powerful. It weighs 903 g (about 2 pounds), and is 13.5 mm (about .53 inches) thick, has a 10.6” ClearType Full HD Display, 42 Watts/hour battery, microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort Video, 2×2 MIMO antennae for connection, Touch Cover, Type Cover, Pen with Palm Block, VaporMg Case & Stand, and 64GB or 128 GB memory.

The available PC covers come in a variety of colors, including basic black, and can be used as standard keyboards for those who prefer that type of experience. Both are expected to debut in late fall 2012, with the Windows RT coming out first, possibly in October.
